This story hit so very close to home:
Beautiful tall blonde.
Model.
In her twenties.
Living her dream.
Bright, even brilliant, future…
But, in an instant,
something unimaginable happens:
changing life forever.
Brain injury?
Anguished parents.
Cries to God.
Prayers from around the world,
sent up like a fragrant offering.
Miracles.
God is glorified.
But, oh,
don’t forget to count the cost.
My prayers are with them all,
but especially with the mother.
I think of Mary.
Mary, did you know…
your child was born to suffer?
***************
“For it has been granted to you that for the sake of Christ you should not only believe in him but also suffer for his sake.” (Philippians 1:29)
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, those who have been called unto His purpose.”
(Romans 8:28)
***************
As we did in April, 2008,, they have established a caringbridge site:
I know the Scruggs family would appreciate your prayers as much as we have.
This is such familiar territory.

That was the first thing I thought when I saw that story.
When I heard about Lauren's horrific story I thought that it'd be a blessing for Lauren and Katherine to meet. There are numerous parallels in their stories as you stated, Kim. Thankfully, one of the parallels is that they both love Jesus. Praying with you for complete healings for Lauren and Katherine. Merry Christmas to you!
i'm so thankful you know of lauren!! i live in dallas & thought of ya'll right away when i read her story.i feel certain God will use you all to minister to them in the days ahead... what a blessing you will be:)

I thought of the parallels also when I heard about Lauren's story. Praying for continued healing and restoration in Lauren and in Katherine.
I live in Dallas and have many friends, including my family, praying for this sweet family. Similar to you guys, we only know them through friends. I prayed that Katherine would be able to somehow connect with, and encourage Lauren. Can't wait to see how He allows that to happen...
PS Katie Bentley is one of my very best friends. She invited us to pray for you way back when.
