The statement, "I can't even remember the last time I had fun" was an example of the literary device known as hyperbole.
Hyperbole (pronounced /haɪˈpɜrbəliː/ hy-PUR-bə-lee[1]; from ancient Greek ὑπερβολή 'exaggeration') is the use of exaggeration as a rhetorical device or figure of speech. It may be used to evoke strong feelings or to create a strong impression, but is not meant to be taken literally.
In reality, I've had far more fun in my life than I deserve. Actually, I've even had some major fun within the last month. I don't want to be misinterpreted as ungrateful for my many, many blessings.
I hope and pray that the majority of my long-term readers "get me" and my tongue-in-cheek writing style by now.

I'm always surprised when you are apologizing for something - in fact I have to go back and read what you wrote to see what may have been offensive :) I have never seen anything that offends, just words that speak the truth, uplift, and say what many are thinking but afraid to say out loud.
Your sensitivity is what makes you so important in the role you play - both to your family and to us as a brilliant writer.
