Prayers requested for my great-niece, Carolena, who is 10 mos. old. C (Carolena) was born with only one atrium in her heart and has gone through numerous surgeries, including 2 open heart. At the moment she is doing well, but is on meds for an arythmia she recently developed. Please pray that the meds will continue to work for this precious baby and that God will continue to bless us with C's presence here on earth. I humbly thank you in advance for your prayers sent on C's behalf.

Please pray for Kristin Francis' complete healing and for strength for her family during her recovery. I have posted a summary of her journey, taken from her caringbridge website.

Kristin is a freshman at Texas A&M University. She just had a great Christmas break with her family in Houston, including a trip to Orlando Florida. In College Station on Monday night, January 19th,2009, after spending the day with her boyfriend Jeremy, Kristin complained of a headache and dizzyness. Then her speech became slurred. Jeremy took her immediately to the ER where she became unconscious and underwent a CAT scan and later an MRI which revealed the AVM and an aneurism which caused bleeding in her brain. On Tuesday night, January 20, she was transported by helicopter to St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston. She spent 3 weeks in the ICU at St. Luke's before transferring to Select Specialty Hospital, a long term acute care facility in the Texas Medical Center, where she spent a month. She has been at TIRR Memorial Hermann, a rehab hospital also in the Medical Center, since early March. On August 12th she had another brain bleed. She was transfered to St. Lukes. This time she had surgery to have the AVM removed on September 16th. It was 100% successful. She recovered at Lukes's and was transferred back to TIRR October 19th for rehab recovery. She came home February 18, 2010.

Thank you for praying for them. She is still rehabbing from this brain injury.

Please pray for my family. My husband was involved in a near fatal motorcycle accident in August 2005; I was 33 weeks pregnant with our son, who is now almost five. My husband sustained a life altering traumatic brain injury and we continue to fight not only for Danny's life, but for our families'. You can learn more about our journey at www.dannyandallison.com. Thank you for your prayers. I will be praying for these requests.

PLEASE pray for me as I am starting at the University of Georgia in just 6 weeks! I suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures in my hips in a car accident two years ago and BOTH still give me lots of trouble! I've also dealt with chronic fatigue syndrome/chronic Epstein-Barr virus for the last 5 years. I would love some healing prayers!! It is NOT easy being 18 and having such poor health.

Callie, I will be praying for you! My daughter graduated from Georgia in 2004 and her time in Athens was so special. I pray that your health will improve and you will be touched by His healing and His love! God Bless Callie!

My husband and I are in our early 50s and have the privilege of raising our grandson. He and his mom have been with us since his birth but in the last year his mom has moved out and left him with us. Although better for him and fun for us, we are no longer able to really be his grandparents but his "parents." He seems very well adjusted to all the change and is a happy four year old. It's so much harder being a mother to a four year old at 50 than it was at 26!! We both are still working on top of everything else. Please pray for patience, wisdom, grace, comfort and good health as we raise another child. Also pray that we are doing the right thing for him.

I wanted to post a quick praise to God and update to my previous prayer post for Justice French - he is home recovering from his surgery on Friday to remove melanoma from his head. He has been in a great deal of pain and nausea, but otherwise doing ok. Praise be to God for carrying him and his family through this part. Please lift him up again and pray specifically that the test results show that the cancer has not spread. They should have the results in the next 7-10 days.

I continue to pray over this list daily, and hope others are doing so as well.

May God meet all of your needs, and bring comfort and healing to your hearts and to those of the ones for whom you intercede.

Please pray for Laure, a young woman who recently suffered a massive aneurysm rupture and is completely paralyzed - except for eyes blinking. ("Locked-in syndrome"). She is the mother of a 4 yr old and 6 mo. old and her husband is sitting by her side daily with those kids.

A member of our small group was very close friends with her in college and shared this news last night. Obviously everyone is devastated and in shock. Please pray for her family, friends, and community as they serve and encourage her during this time. The family is asking for mercy from God that she will be healed, able to move any amount and survive.

Thanks for your prayers,
Kim

Please pray for my mother, brother, and uncle as they are battling drug and alcohol addictions. I pray everyday for their recovery and salvation. It has been devastating for my family to experience the loss of the people that they once were. I believe that the Lord can perform miracles in their lives!

Last night one member of our small group reported one of his best female friends in college (a believer in Christ) suffered a massive aneurysm rupture and is completely paralyzed everywhere except for (blinking) her eyes! Her husband and two children (4 yrs. and 6 months) are at her side day and night.

Kim said...

oops...sorry, Kim...didn't see you had already added this young mother to the list.

We will pray for her doubly!

Good morning!
I wanted to share some wonderful news regarding my prayer request that I posted for Justice French, the 21 year old who was diagnosed with melanoma (found on his head). The Lord has surely answered our prayers and he is cancer free! He and his family received the test results yesterday that would determine whether the cancer had spread..and it has not!! Thank you all who prayed for him and his family during this challenging time. Prayer is a powerful thing! Justice has about a 6-8 week recovery ahead of him so please keep praying for his full recovery. And praise the Lord above for this wonderful news!

Kim said...

Yes, prayer is a powerful thing.

I join you in thanking and praising God for this wonderful news!

I continue to pray over the whole list. I pray for God's help for those suffering from depression and addiction, infertility issues, families grieving terrible loss, illness and injury, challenges and hurts of every kind.

God is enough. May each of you experience his incomprehensible love in a new way, no matter how devastating or difficult your circumstances.

His heart is grieved by your pain, and he longs to come to you and comfort you.

I am privileged to lift you up in prayer. And I hope that many others multiply those prayers.

Not in our way or time...but healing happens.

Miracles still happen.

Please pray for my daughter and her husband who are suffering from infertility. They would both be wonderful parents and my prayer is that God might form a perfect little baby in her womb, and she may experience the joys of pregnancy, delivery and motherhood. What a miracle a newborn baby is, and this is the desire of my heart for them and their desire. It is really beginning to alter her personality and causing depression. Also, I would ask for continued remission of leukemia for my oldest daughter. Thank you so much for all prayers.

Hi all,
I had a prayer request that came to me and I wanted to share it with other prayer warriors...
The person in need of prayer is John Rodgers. He grew up in Athens,GA and went to UGA and now lives in North Carolina. He was diagnosed with Dilated
Cardiomyopathy about 6 years ago. John is in need of a Heart Transplant. He is currently on top of the list to receive one
in his area and is hospitalized at Duke. John is a big Georgia Football fan so I am writing this to ask the UGA Community to pray as this young man fights
for his life.

allison guyer said...

Edit: I am asking that anyone in the UGA community and anywhere else, please pray for John!

Please read the following post from Kristen Francis' mother. I think she needs our prayers.

God giveth and God takes away. We had a 4 or so nights of wonderful sleep and now NONE. Kristin is waking up at 12am and staying awake all night. She moves constantly like she can not get comfortable. I have tried advil, tylenol and others to see if that will relax her but to no avail. If sleep deprivation is a trigger to the bad seizure we had then we are heading down the same road again and that is unsettling. WE tried the 12.5mg ambien last night. We all need sleep there has to be a solution long term that works more than 1 week. You the prayer warriors have been praying for this for months and God has placed a deaf ear on this request. I ask why? Sleep in itself is healing and so needed by our bodies to function and God is still not answering this prayer. I am frustrated and tired regarding this issue. Lord hear our prayers!!!!!!!!!!! We have lots of needs but this very basic one seems to be at the forfront at the time. It seems there is so much in Kristin's care that is out of my control to do anything about. Kristin is God's and His alone. It is in Kristin's suffering we too daily suffer with her. Even in my hurt, my grief, and my suffering over this situation/circumstance we have been put in there is no where else to turn but to our Lord Jesus and trust. We know He is in control and He is aware of our needs. His timing for us and our needs is not ours. I guess we will endure as many before us has, remaining steadfast.

Kim said...

I encourage all "prayer warriors" to intercede for this young woman and her family.

What they are going through makes our situation pale in comparison.

My friend Michael who is being treated for sarcoma received test results that showed his cancer has not spread at this point! This is awesome news. Thank you Lord for this blessing. Please continue to pray for him as he undergoes very aggressive cancer treatment.

Please also pray for Toby Dalton and family - he unexpectedly lost his wife yesterday from a brain aneurysm. She was also a mom and a grandmother. Lift them up to the Lord to provide the comfort and strength that he needs during a very difficult time. Thank you all. I continue to pray for all of your requests too! Please pray for my heart that I would be open to God and not taking parts that I like while disobeying. I've lived like this for a very long time, and I'm struggling to really live for Him. Also, that I would figure out a schooling (or not schooling, or a DTS) situation for the spring semester of 2011. Thank you thank you. I enjoy your blog and seeing your passion for Christ, if only everyone had an example like you in their life!

Kim said...

Oh, Anna, I struggle with the same things, too. Wanting my way and His way at the same time. I think most of us deal with that tension in our faith walks.

I will pray for you right now. Mainly, that you will know how very, very much God loves you just the way you are.

(And for specific guidance and direction.)

Please, please pray for me. I was completely blindsided in a way today that I never expected. My heart is shattered and I have to make it through this for my child, but I just don't have the strength on my own.

Dear Friend,

I don't know who you are, but the One who made you does. I just prayed for Him to come to you in a powerful way and give you strength, hope, endurance, peace, and HIS LOVE today. I pray that He will make the Impossible Possible. I pray you will allow Him to hold you in His arms of love and comfort you. Rest in Him. Trust Him. Know that He is somehow working all things together for ultimate good, even the terrible things.

I will continue to pray for you and your child, and invite my readers to join me in lifting you up. Whatever it is, you are not alone in your pain.

Please pray for Kristin Francis and her family. They really need the prayers after this disappointing news(from her caringbridge website):

Update --I am numb to say the least about the news we received today. The good part is the AVM on the left side of her brain is still gone and many more vessels of collateral circulation has formed and filled in. The really sad-bad news is Kristin now has another aneurysm on her right side ( the other side her good side)of her brain. It is small in comparison to her monster AVM. It is deep in the brain in a small vessel. None the less it is an aneurysm with the qualities of getting bigger and then breaking causing a bleed. At the moment the radiologist does not feel he can glue it due to how small of a vessel and its deep location. He is trying to find a pathway to it for the possibility of glueing it. We will see Dr. Ghosh on the 29th and the surgery option will be discussed. So as you can see we are so disappointed about the news.

Please pray for our dear friend Hugh and his beautiful wife and precious daughter. Aimee recently sent this out and I felt moved to add it to your site Kim. Thank you!
Stephanie Cartwright
REQUEST FROM AIMEE:
"PLEASE SEND YOUR PRAYERS. We've survived so very much, and received so many miracles, but we're weakened and tired and still a little traumatized from the past five weeks' whirlwind of events. Please pray that Hugh's lungs heal, that he gets timely treatment, that the doctors have the wisdom and guidance to get Hugh what he needs, that Hugh has the emotional and physical strength to jump another hurdle (and any other coming his way), and that we get this turned around quickly so that in the end, Hugh can regain his life, not just his existence. He's made so much progress -- he is leukemia free, GVHD-free, his organs are generally functioning well. We just need to kick this last doozy, the lung stuff. With your help, and a little hope, love, and faith, we will."

Please pray for my daughter, E. She only in first grade and is struggling to learn to read. And she is not making friends at school either. The other girls are already snobby and in cliques. I teach her to be kind and make friends with everyone but I don't think the other parents share our values. Tonight, she prayed for Katherine (as always) and then prayed that God would "help her learn to read and make friends". I'm praying that God is merciful and answers this prayer positively and quickly. I was proud of her for seeking Him in her hour of need. :)
thank you!

Thank you for the hope you give to me every time I read your words.
I am requesting prayer for my sweet ADHD daughter who is(was)a sophomore in college. She has failed out this semester and now will be facing the harsh reality that rebellion brings to all of us. My heart is broken, but I am believing God for a miracle for my prodigal adult child. Please keep Sarah in your prayers.

I've just read through Rachel's blog, and it is beyond description.

I want to offer encouragement for Sarah's mom: Prodigals do come home! In God's time...

I know it's hard, but I will pray that you stay strong, love unconditionally, but allow her to suffer her own consequences.

Being a parent has taught me so much about God.

May He spread His comfort over all who ask for His help.

Bobbie, we are blessed to hear your Good News! So happy!!

The Francis family continues to be in my heart and prayers almost daily. Please keep praying for them. I can't imagine what hell they live through each day. Kristin is the age of my youngest, Grace.

"Anonymous," I can't tell you how many times I've been in your shoes. I pray that God will carry you through. Remember that He is not mad at you. He grieves for you, and longs for you to be whole. You have my prayers during the process. He will not abandon you. "As far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our iniquities from us." I love that one when I am grieving over my guilt. May he use this time of brokenness to make you stronger

Please pray for Kristen Francis. She fell out of her chair and has suffered another bleed. Her mother wrote the following on her Caringbridge site:

Dr. Ghosh has stated when her platelet count and white blood cell count comes up tomorrow afternoon he will take out the bleed by cutting a small square in her head bone to remove it. I am disappointed the burr hole will not work. The big risk is of course infection with low white count. Please pray for protection against infection and surgery complications. Pray for surgery to be successful.

I think that a donation to the Salvation Army or any other reputable charity would be very helpful for the people of Alabama and the other areas hit by tornadoes on that day. People need new, clean underwear and other very basic necessities. Of course, prayers for the survivors would be most beneficial. And also please pray for the poor people facing the flooding along the Mississippi River. The South is taking a hit, but these good people always rise above the tribulation on the wings of God's angels.

I'd like to ask for prayer. My fiancé and I had our house broken into on Monday. Along with meaningless electronics, they took our precious white terrier named Socks. She is crate trained along with her sister, Boots, and we rescued them together last year. They left Boots and took Socks, crate and all. We have some leads but as a mom (my two dogs are my kids), I have struggled daily with the possibilities of what evil people can do. Could u please pray over Socks and us. We need God's strength to shine upon us. I have FAITH that she will return. We are offering a $5000 reward to hopefully entice. Just pray if you feel lead! We thank u so much.

Please pray for Wilma. She was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer a few years ago. It resurfaced with a vengance recently. She is beginning a VERY powerful treatment, but is willing to try anything that will allow her to see her three small children grow up. She has family members in Athens, but her parents are far away and her father also has cancer so they are not able to travel to be with her at this time. She is a lovely young woman who has remained positive through all her pain and treatments.

Please pray for Kristen Francis' mother, Kathlene. I have asked for prayer for Kristen and continue to covet prayers for her, but Kathlene has asked for specific prayer for herself. This request is taken from Kristen's caringbridge site:

Please pray for me to stop fighting God and to rest in Him. Pray for me to submit my will to our situation. My problem is I do not want to live like this. I hate it and want it to change. I can not make Kristin better on any front. I can not fix anything. I feel like I am in a very miserable place. The only thing I can change is my attitude, my actions, my heart. Please pray for my heart to be accepting of God's will for my life and to be thankful as He asks us to be no matter what our circumstance is. I am angry and I feel this was forced on us and I have to deal with it but I am not on God's page with this. Please pray for me.

Kathlene and her family have endured Kristen's situation for over two years. Thank you for continuing to pray for the Francis family.

My heart grieves so much for this mother. What she is living through is unimaginable. A never-ending nightmare.

I do pray for her... and will continue!

Please pray for me as I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I am going through treatment, but my prayer is that God will continue to sustain me and that I might help others who have to be in a club that no one wants to belong in.
Thanks

Will you please pray for this sweet family http://www.needhamcrew.blogspot.com/? They are fellow members of Redeemer Presbyterian here in Athens. Their precious 2 year old has leukemia and after a recent "successful" bone marrow transplant, the cancer has inexplicably returned. A miracle is needed. We are gathering this Thursday at 7 at the church to intercede the God of the universe for them. It would be awesome if yall could pray at that same time (and before and after!). thanks, Mary

Absolutely, I will be praying for this sweet child and her family, and I invite others to do so as well.

Thank you for sharing this heartbreaking need.

Please pray for the family of Nikki Flowers from Montgomery. When Nikki's Mom went in to wake her for school yesterday, she was unresponsive. She apparently died in her sleep of a brain aneurysm. Nikki was a 10th grader, beautiful, talented young lady.

How devastated the family must be! Praying that the God of all comfort will carry them in His arms of love.

Oh my gosh, I am saddened by this news and will pray for Nikki's family. Lord, I pray you will be their strength in the coming days, weeks, months.

Please pray for me and my husband. Our new marriage is struggling and we need God's guidance and grace to get us through these trials and tribulations. Pray that God would open our eyes to what a wonderful blessing we are to each other and pray for His peace and understanding on our hearts.

Dear One,

I've been praying for you and your husband this morning. So many marriages are under attack right now! May you both continue to seek God first and grow in Him... and may He knit your hearts together in unconditional love.

This marriage thing is not easy. It takes supernatural grace. Praying that you both will be given an extra measure of that!

Although I've been following Katherine's journey since the beginning (my [then] Bible study table leader's daughter was a sorority sister of K's), I have never posted a comment. Now is the time. A sweet 10-year-old girl, Emma, in our Richmond community suffered an AVM rupture on Thursday. She is in critical condition. Since you know full-well the anguish of her family, I would love if you could pray for Emma's miraculous healing and peace for her family -- including her 8-year-old brother, Jack.

On a side note, your writing -- and Katherine's blog -- has been a blessing to me over these few years. God has mightily used your family's journey to offer hope to many.

In Him,
Shelley

Thank you so much for asking your blog followers to pray for Emma. God is going before them in their journey, as He did for Katherine. If you wish to check her progress, there is a CaringBridge page now set up -- http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/emmapiehl. She is scheduled to have surgery tomorrow.

kim, I suffered a hemorraghic stroke 3/27/2010. I have left sided paralysis, neuropathy, and spasticity. I have followed Katherine's blog for a year or , more praying for her. I fell at rehab on last Monday, 7/30/12, and fractured my pelvis in 2 places, now back in a wheelchair and totally dependent. Your scriptures after Katherines's fall have carried me. I face 3-4 weeks of this. Not much in light of eternity, but I am struggling. I just need Jesus to be close to me through this hard time. Thank you.

I had a stroke 3/27/12 and had just become able to walk independently when I fell at rehab and broke my pelvis in 2 places. Now back in a wheelchair, totally dependent and afraid. I just need Jesus to walk/roll with me through this trial. Thank you. Pam

I am so sorry about your fall! I know you must feel discouraged. After you and Katherine have worked so hard in rehab, it doesn't seem fair.

BUT we KNOW that God is working all things together for good... even these falls. I pray for healing and encouragement for you as you rest in His arms.

I have to remind myself of those scriptures every day. And this one: "...these 'light and momentary trials' are winning for us a glory that FAR outweighs them all!" But it's not easy. We will pray for you as we pray for Katherine each day.

Kim,

I have read your posts since the beginning when it was on Katherine's Mom's Blog. I went to Ole Miss with Aimee. I love your rich insight and honesty all while being rich with encouragement and wit. Thank you for being so transparent with your faith and your story. Here is a link to a friend of a friends's caringbridge site. It sounds all too similar to Katherine's, but I thought in very encouraging ways. She is doing well, but has been through so much. I know they'd love prayers and encouragement from someone who has been in a similar place! Here is the link if you are interested.
